vocational training

Empowerment has always been central to the mission of Wesley Welfare Development Institute. Alongside our work in health, education, and community care, we are deeply committed to creating sustainable livelihoods through vocational training. We believe that when individuals—especially women—are equipped with practical, income-generating skills, entire families and communities rise with them. Over the years, we have conducted tailoring and sweater weaving training programs for women in the communities we serve. These initiatives provide structured, hands-on learning where participants gain technical skills such as garment construction, alterations, pattern cutting, and quality finishing. Through sweater weaving classes, women learn craftsmanship that can translate into seasonal income and home-based enterprise opportunities. Beyond skill-building, these programs foster confidence, independence, and a renewed sense of purpose. Vocational training at Wesley Welfare Development Institute is not limited to traditional crafts. As we look toward the future, we plan to expand into additional skill-development programs based on community needs. Potential trainings include basic computer literacy, digital skills for small businesses, spoken English, food processing and preservation, beauty and wellness training, handicrafts, candle-making, entrepreneurship development, and financial literacy. These programs aim to prepare individuals not just to earn, but to manage, grow, and sustain their livelihoods. Through vocational empowerment, we are investing in long-term transformation—helping individuals move from dependency to dignity, from uncertainty to opportunity, and from survival to sustainable growth.
